Nevada

Welcome to the Silver state!

Each state needs a competent medical workforce to meet the needs of its citizens. However, the requirements for some health care professions are not the same in each state. That is why it is important to find out what is required of you as a future or current registered nurse before moving across state lines. Contact information is located at the bottom of this page.

Endorsements

The Nevada Board of Nursing also requires applicants to have a valid Social Security number, passing NCLEX scores, and current, permanent licensure.

More specific information on endorsement can be found here. It includes fingerprint instructions along with the endorsement application and instructions. Application fee is $105, Fingerprint/Background check fee is $40.

Foreign graduates of international nursing programs must submit a copy of your transcript that indicates nursing degree and date of graduation. The Board will contact you if you are required to complete the CGFNS/CES report. CGFNS Link.

Continuing competency

Registered nurses must complete 30 hours of continuing education in order to renew their licenses. All courses must be nursing-related. Exceptions may be made for newly licensed nurses. That is, if you have been licensed within the last two years, then you may not have to complete an additional 30 hours for your initial license renewal. However, all RNs must take a one-time, four-hour bioterrorism CE class.

For more information regarding continuing education, including approved providers, can be found here. Approved Continuing Education Providers link.

This state requires nurses to hold current ACLS certification.
